Holy shit! I bet even a highwayman that has a gun without bullets could make a decent living scaring the bejesus out of people. This isn't a realtime strategy game where you can send units to their deaths like mindless ants until you overwhelm the enemy.

This being a playtest, I need to approach stuff from a numbers perspective first so I can get a feel for balance levels. Where there are lots of hidden modifiers I can't account for them so I have to go with what I can see. :AH

I don't expect my people to act like automatons but until I can get a feel for how Ken is going to fiddle things I will see where I can push and how much I can break things. Ken knows this already. :w

Eh, I read through the rules and saw that having officers reduces your military units' likelyhood of routing, rout being a military term meaning to retreat due to morale shock.

Quite true Feere. I have no officers and no way to get any. Actually, now that I think about it does an officer have to be a specialist? How do I specifically generate one? Could I take, say, a level 4 solder and make him an officer?

The way I understand it level 2s are when NCO worthy men start cropping up. And my arguement is that my soldiers rushing your fortified walls armed with spears and swords would turn and run once bullets start to mow everyone down.

Mav, they can pop up with time. It reflects that even without any formalized training some folks just have the innate ability of that specialty type and given enough time, and experience, will gain that ability and then will be listed on your player sheets.

And Feere is correct, morale is a mod for combat.

Mav, you need to give specific orders to set up the work camps and such. Just saying your men are taking up axes and such, will not work. They will just mill around until given specific orders.

I apologize bud.

I put a notice in the main discussion thread about restarting today. I should have put it in the time thread. :ad

My bad. If you get your orders done before 6PM CST, I will process them.

Ok, I think I have everything important updated now. A question though, since I don't have any stones, could I use steel in it's place for building? Or does it have to be stones or concrete?

You can replace stone with steel, if you wish. :bs

Correct. Each replacement is one for one.

Also, orders updated to reflect the new reality.

Who knows, there could be something else lurking on your island. I think you have enough lumber and tech to build a harbor and boats for exploration. Don't quite know, but I'd figure you'd at least be close to it with the tech update. I think I can build boats now if I wanted, not quite for sure, but my lake doesn't interest me outside of water, fish, and the tar spiders that may lurk within.

Oh! And another thing, with a freaking city beneath the waves, there's a treasure trove of wealth ready to be scavenged, that is if you figure out how to keep people alive underwater. Reminds me of most of Paradigm City on Big O.

Mav, do me a favor, if you make an adjustment to your orders, make sure you put it in a new post. I cannot tell what is new or not, in your orders. I will need you to make new posts with the new stuff.

Mav, I don't know if you were being sarcastic or not. Just reposting what I posted helped not a bit. So I did my best at seperating the new from the old. See Development orders for example.

Ok, with the new player sheet, you've added techs that I didn't have originally, because I'd been very conservative on the techs allowed and it hadn't been updated anywhere that I saw. This may be an artifact from the old site but it gives me alot more ability than I had.

Do I assign the tools in the general orders or in the census orders? Or both?

I am building 2 training grounds, I don't know if you caught that on the general orders.

The new sheet with the updates has been here since I posted it on the 9th. This is why I waited till today before beginning. To give folks a chance to see if updates were needed. :w

The only things you allocate for non-people on the C&D Orders are the items that are outside of your main settlement. Like with your scouting parties and resource gathering camps.

No I did not. I will change that ASAP. :AH

For now, yes. You are not capable of making anything more complex outside of the shelter. Your main problem, is not really tech, it is resources and manu. facs.
