While we are still playing with a character concept, this came to mind last night.



The middle aged man lay in the foliage near the mountain streamwatching the scene below. There must have been fifteen or more raiders setting up camp down there. He hated the raiders. When they came people of the tribe disappeared. The old and the youngest would be dead and those of prime age would disappear. The elders had called upon the monks of Akido to aid them when another hunting party had been attacked. Master Terrgon had sent several of the brothers back with the elders and had sent him to find help from one of the farside towns. Even mercenaries if that was all he could find.

But first he had to warn someone or take them out himself. If he went for help he would have to bring back a tracker. It would be too easy to lose them on the trails. He was only a passable tracker at the best of times and tracking across rocky trails was not the best of times. Perhaps he could slow them down? He closed his eyesin frustration. Too many years of not having to use the skills of his people had dulled his mind. He breathed deeplyin and out, letting the confusion leave his body. To confront them now would,at best alert them to his presence. His mind side stepped the worst case scenario. He did not like the image it gave him.

His mind was trying to go several ways at once. Again not something he was used to. His mind flashed to a herbalogy class he had had shortly after... After what? He coudn't remember. But the plant was important. Why? He struggled to remember

Two minutes later he did. The slight smile that crossed his face would have unsettled any sane man. He backed away from edge slowly. It would take him perhaps an hour to gather what he needed. He could cast the spell at dusk and shortly before dawn. These men would be slowed down indeed.
